OWH Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop 2013

memdaypage

Welcome to the next stop on the Operation Write Home Memorial Day Blog Hop.  The theme for the hop this year is Thank You cards using a sketch.  OWH hosts a sketch challenge every Sunday, so I used one of theirs.  You can see all the sketches here.  I used sketch #162.  To find a list of all blogs participating in this hop, please visit the OWH Stars and Stamps blog here. It contains an InLinkz to each blog.

Operation Write Home (OWH) is an organization that provides our nation's armed forces stationed overseas with blank handmade greeting cards to write home on as well as "Anyhero" cards of gratitude to encourage them. If you are interested in making cards for this great cause, please visit the Operation Write Home website here.

Crafty Gals Monthly Blog Challenge - May 2013

It's time for another Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge. This month we are CASEing Tracie's blog. She uses lots of Cricut and die cuts on her projects. I don’t have a Cricut and have very basic die cut shapes. So I found a card that did not use either but the image was of a little girl in a tea cup. I have a stamp very similar to that one and it does involve one of my favorite things, tea. I love tea and drink it every day. (I think I said this last month too!). The original card is here. I had to change my layout and turn it sideways because my image was too big turned the other direction. I also didn’t put the bling where she did because I felt my patterned paper was too busy. I just scattered some flat back pearls around the image. I probably could have used black ones and stuck with original layout more but I didn’t think of until now. May change it later.

Since I am a SU! hobby demo, I do have some of the sneak preview items from the upcoming catalog. I used a few of the new In-Colors and DSP that will be in the 2013-14 catalog that will be officially released on May 31.

Stamp:  Stamping Bella
Cardstock:  Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar, Whisper White (SU!)
DSP:  Quatrefancy Specialty (SU!)
Misc: Gingham Garden Washi Tape and Pearls (SU!),  Prisma Colored pencils

Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge - April 2013

It's time for another Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge.  This month we are CASEing Barb's blog.  I found a tea themed card that inspired me and CASEd it.  I love tea and drink it every day.  My friends and I try to visit tea rooms in the Southern California area when ever we can.  So Barb's tea cup card was just calling my name.  I hope I did it justice.  The original card is here.

All supplies are Stampin Up unless noted otherwise.

Stamps:  Tea Shoppe
Card Stock:  Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink
Ink:  Melon Mambo
Misc:  Rose ribbon, Flat-back Pearls

Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge - March 2013

It's time for another Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge.  This month we are CASEing Carolina.  She has lost her mojo but hopefully we can inspire her to create more awesome projects.  I very losely based my card on the card here.  I  did not do it justice but I tried.  Since my card is not square, I had less real estate to work with and had to make adjustments accordingly.  Since my image already contained a sentiment, I did not include the banner and instead added flat-back pearls that I colored with my SU! Midnight Muse marker.

Stamp:  Just Thinking (SU!)
Cardstock:  Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Wild Wasabi
DSP:  Print Poetry
Misc:  Flat-back pearls colored with Midnight Muse marker

Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge - February 2013

It time for another Crafty Gals Blog Group Monthly Challenge.  This month our challenge is:

"Show some "love" to Jeanette this month. I know that Jeanette loves Nature, patterned paper, recycled things and things you would find in the Forest. You can use any of these ideas or go to her blog and CASE (copy with a few of your own changes/touches) some beautiful card or project from her blog. In your post, just link to her blog the project that you CASED."

I found a birthday card that I really liked although it is not related to nature.  The orignal can be found here:  http://creativeplayischeaperthantherapy.blogspot.com/2012/03/happy-birthday.html.

Here is my version.  I made a few modifications to it including but not limited to where the ribbon was placed.  I really like that layout and will probably use it again.  Thanks for stopping by.

All items are from Stampin Up! unless noted.
Stamps:  Creat a Cupcake
Cardstock:  Tempting Turquoise, Wisteria Wonder, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Whisper White
DSP:  Brights Stack
Ink:  Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Cherry Cobbler

Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge - January 2013

This month our challenge was "Anything Goes".  I decided to post my card from Round 5 of the Unidentified Image swap on Splitcoaststampers since I hadn't done it yet.  Jeanette sent us several copies of this image and we had made 4 cards and send them to her.  Isn't he a cutie.

Image: Not sure.

Crafty Gals Monthly Challenge - December 2012

It is time for this month's Crafty Gals Blog Group Challenge.  We did not have an official hostess this month.  We did something a little different this month.  Here is this month's challenge:

Guess Who I'm CASEing?!

"Go back to the month of March on one of the Crafty Gals blogs. (you can get there by finding their dated blog archive in their sidebar)

It doesn't matter whom you choose. That is totally up to you. That's the fun of us guessing right?!

Find a project from the month of March on their blog and CASE it. Don't list who you visited on your Dec. 5th blog post. We have to guess. This will also be kind of like a scavenger hunt. We'll want to go look at the original "artwork" you CASED so we'll be visiting March blog posts of our GALS!!!!"

I used the same layout and colors as the card that I  CASED but I changed the theme to Christmas.  Happy hunting.
